DESIGN INSPIRATION
As I researched on my thesis (Digital Equity for Older Adults), I came across many valuable lessons that I in-turn could learn about the use of smartphones from a community that has always provided my generation with its collective wisdom on life.
DESIGN INTERVENTION
In order to capture the lessons I learnt, I devised an anti-user manual for the digital natives to question our ever so immersed life in the tech world. My research showed me that the instructions manual, or the user guide, is considered to be the toughest to follow, not just by you or me, but most importantly, by older adults. It does not take into account the basics, it is hard to follow, and often does not help navigate what the actual usage of a phone is. I used this as an analogous inspiration for the design of my booklet, to help the natives understand the difficulties older adults face while reading the manual.
